A passionate pursuitWhat we as humans lack in our daily lives is intentionality. But before I tell you why, let's get a better glimpse of what this word truly means.
Intentionality: in·ten·tion·al·i·ty ; done with intention or on purpose; intended Now I ask, is this choice implemented into our relationships with Jesus? Being intentional with our lives is being constantly aware of why we are here, why we have been put on this earth - for a PURPOSE. This is the slow, hard, but ultimately most rewarding process called Sanctification - a daily decision to worship Jesus, in our difficult moments and wonderful moments and every moment in between. We get so caught up in the temporary realm of matters that we often apply our energy towards other things that are so devastatingly useless in our relationship with the Lord. It can be so tiresome when you are not on a steady path with the Him, but just remember that although we all fall short of his glory everyday, being intentional with our time is the most important way to lead a life of sanctification worshipful awe. There will be moments on the mountain top - where all you see is the beautiful sunrise and positivity of this wonderful life we have been given, but we have all been in the valley. We have all been in the places where spiritual death is so close, and seems so much more appealing. The only way to cure this inevitable evil of this world is to remind yourself daily of this: Nothing is more rewarding than taking your time to be in His presence. We begin to truly live when we give our life away to Him - and this is our time and heart, slowly shifting towards His heart and intentions for us. We are His true handiwork, and nothing excites our God more than when we are in a consistent and deep relationship with Him. "Do not be discouraged for the Lord is with you wherever you go." This verse often seems over used, but isn't it so applicable to any circumstance that stands in front of us? If He is with us, shouldn't we also be in Him as we face the everyday struggles of humanity? Having a mindset of being pursued and loved by our Heavenly Father is what keeps us drawing near to Him. Our God is not a distant God. He is a near God. He is an omnipresent God. So I'm not sure where you are today as you read this post. Whether you are on a mountaintop screaming hallelujah, or feeling lonely and distant from his presence, wherever you may be, there is this truth in whatever you may face ahead: He is always worth pursuing. He is so intentional so we should also be intentional with Him. Not only is this the most satisfying way of spending our time, but it is the most freeing. So carve some time out of your day - really seek his voice in your life and in turn be the voice that shifts our culture, our community, and all of those around us. But remember that living an intentional life isn't just a Bible study and church on Sundays - it is so much more than that, it is a life of being the outsider, being the one who people may not like - it's a hard battle, but it's the most rewarding way to live no doubt. I'll leave you with this- "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Chor. 10:3-5) Use this as a guide, and you will find that this, yes this, is the most satisfying way to pursue Jesus as we are sanctified solely by His lavish love and immesearuble grace. -gcg ps.
